A nice touch of nostalgia as the Ali family from Kent in south of England showed once again that they are true contenders in any trot, pulling off an end-of-season quinella with Encore Sun (Phil O’Neill) first and Amazing (Jason Ali) second. Dorenzo du Houlbet (Philip Arnett) made a big move with a lap to go and kicked clear down the back straight for the final time, but his run flattened out with a hundred metres left of the mile and a half and he was swallowed up first by the Ali pair, and then by Envouteuse (Joe Quinn) who finished third in front of the brave Dorenzo.
