Belem de Bertrange was the first winner under the new whip-conditioned rule, advancing 10 yards on his rating handicap in the hands of Rocker Laidler. In a blanket finish they held off Feerie de Triou (Grant Cullen) by a short head with a head to Comanchero Beach (William Laidler Jr) and half a length. Amedeo de Jelma (JHN).
