Gavin Murdock added Extrem Ryld to his lorry load of pacers from Ireland and the horse confirmed his good form at Portmarnock. Sitting patiently in mid field, he came with a well-timed run to pip Cauziki du Rib with whom Mike Evans had set a steady tempo from the gate. Giant Pyla (Richard Haythornthwaite) ran his usual big race to be a neck away third.
