When Mike Evans and Calimero Brouets pushed for the lead, Rhun Wilson on Coeur de Venise did not fight, probably on the basis that he could pull out and pip him as in the 2 miler in July. But Mike rated the mile perfectly and he held on from the fast finishing Dorenzo du Houlbet , who showed he was not out of his depth in FFA company with a fine second in the hands of Andrew Cairns.
