Broadway du Bourg – This 10 year old won his last start over this trip back at York in July when clocking 2:38.4. He enjoys a pole position draw here and is expected to lead them all a merry dance from the front in this. One of the more likelier types. Eliothrope – Boasts two victories in 2021 but both have been over the mile and a half journey. Campaigned exclusively over marathon trips this season he may be susceptible to more speedier rivals here. Still he has the talent to play a part in this with a clear round (has been disqualified twice this term). Belem de Bertrange – Has had 6 starts this season and although placed every time, he has yet to get his head in front. Raced predominantly over the mile, connections appear to think that this must be his best trip so the extended mile and a quarter prompts concern. But has clocked 2:35.6 over this trip in 2020 so on times recorded it puts him right up there. Calimero Brouets – Another that has been aggressively campaigned in 2021 albeit over marathon trips and another yet to win this season. The signs are that he may have to settle for a place chance at best here again. Couer de Venise – A fresh import in 2021, he boasts 4 wins, 3 places and a DQ in 8 starts so he is definitely one to throw into the mix in this. However, a concern is that he is yet to win over the mile and a quarter with all his wins coming over the extended mile and a half. Otherwise he is a live contender. Diamant de Godrel – One of the stars of the UK trotting scene he boasts one of the fastest mile and a quarter winning times in the line-up (2:35) and never seems to run a bad race. The fan club will be out in force to see Godrel possibly winning his 4th race of this curtailed campaign. Bueno Verderie – Another fresh import during the 2021 season this 10 year old has won twice so far (York and Tregaron) but has yet to win at this venue. He looked unlucky not to score last time however when encountering traffic at a pivotal stage. Today could be his chance to make amends.
Diamont de Godrel has been once of the best trotters to grace the UK scene in recent years and will be all out to defend his crown against some young pretenders. Bueno Verderie will present a stern challenge albeit from a tricky draw whilst Belem de Betrange could spring a surprise at very rewarding odds
