Blason and Alan Haythornthwaite set a strong pace from the start of the Sue Williams Memorial and looked like holding off his younger stablemate, but the Horse of the Year Diamant de Godrel and JHN ‘mugged’ him on the line. Mare of the Year Catalane du Canet (Steven Williams) ran a very good race for third and all three returned very respectable times given the strong wind they faced three times
