John Henry Nicholson kicked off VDM weekend with a second successive win behind recent import Feline du Padoueng. The flashy chestnut mare made all the running after getting an easy lead as a result of the other two gate horses making early mistakes. Univers de Crennes (Lee Morris) made the most of a trail trip to finish second from his 20 yard trail. Europe (Joe Quinn) did nothing wrong and stayed on well to finish third from her 20 yard trail. Elias du Padoueng (Michael O’Mahony) contested the lead through the middle stages, but paid for it in the final quarter of a mile to finish fourth.
