Mike Evans was determined to have a truly run race and sent Enez Leman well clear of the field in the second heat of the Mares Championship (Prix Marianne). Aa a result she ended up winning by 12 lengths and equalling Diamant de Godrels’ recent mile and a quarter record of 2.34.3. Cambada d’Or (Joseph Ripley) was the distant second, with newcomer Gazelle Boullion (Rocker Laidler) a useful third.
