The three furlong track is a challenge for the French trotter, but Blason and John Henry Nicholson were well up to the task. effortlessly taking a second off the previous trotting mile record with a time of 2.6.2. Amadeo de Jelma (Grant Cullen) also broke the old record with his 2.7.1 and Corbiewood favourite Three Pack (Richard Haythornthwaite) – having his 81st start in GB after 71 in France! – was not far away from it.
